God Girls

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.  1 Thessalonians 5:11

Its been almost a year since we started this journey of meeting together weekly for bible study and girl talk.   I treasure the friendships that have come out of this time. How great it’s been to strengthen and encourage each other through the ups and downs of the past year.  The bible studies have stretched me and pushed me far beyond the limits of what I thought loving God was all about.    We have all grown leaps and bounds from it with so much more growing to do.   If you’re ready for the next round, here are the best selections I’ve come up with so far.  I’d like to start Wednesday October 7th, wrapping up a week or two before Thanksgiving.   Leave your choice in the comments. Majority wins. As always, anyone is welcome.

Hebrews by Lisa Harper –

Hebrews was a sermon for a specific people and culture in the midst of martyrdom and persecution, but is also so relevant for us today, reminding us to continue walking toward Jesus regardless of our culture or our circumstances.

Join Lisa as she journeys through this bridge between the Old and New Testaments to get to the heart of the matter: Jesus is our accessible King. He is not a faraway God, but an up-close Redeemer who draws near to us. Hebrews helps women make the connection between God the Father and God the Son and reminds us that Jesus is supreme, but He is also compassionate, empathetic, and loving to no end. Lisa Harper makes digging into Hebrews fun and doable, as only she can, without losing an ounce of depth.

Hosea by Jennifer Rothschild –Unfailing Love Changes Everything

Hosea, an old-testament prophet, preached his own life message using his marriage as the sermon illustration. The 7 session study of Hosea looks deeply at that message. It provides background to better understand the intricacies of the man and his message. You’ll be guided to understand, but more especially to apply the message of the prophet of love.

The book will challenge us with judgment so harsh it will singe our hair—an unheeded sermon warning of devastating doom shortly to come. But it will show us the kind of love we dream about. Be amazed by the love of Hosea for his wayward spouse—and more amazed by the unfailing love of God for His wayward people, and for all people. Hosea showers us with hope—hints and portents pointing to the coming of the promised Messiah.

Develop an Action Plan for Putting on the Whole Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer

A 7-Session Video-Driven Women’s Study for Small Groups

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny.

But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you’re tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.

The enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer’s inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.
